How long does it take to complete an appointment?
From the time you walk through our doors to the time you walk back out, a typical appointment with a patient who requires booster shots, initial vaccines and a consultation usually takes around 45 minutes to one hour to complete.
Is the doctor accepting new patients?
Yes. At this time, Dr. Gafanovich is accepting new patients. Please make an appointment for your travel vaccinations, preventative courses of medications and your travel health consultation.
Is it difficult to get in to see the doctor?
No. We will make every attempt to accommodate your appointment at your earliest convenience. That does not mean that it is advisable to wait until the last minute to make an appointment for your immunizations. Please make an appointment or come directly to our office for your travel inoculations and preventative courses of medication as soon as possible. The more time you give the immunizations to take effect, the stronger your immune response will be if you encounter a vaccine preventable disease. After six weeks’ time, your immune response should reach its optimal level of effectiveness
What is an internist?
An internist is a doctor who specializes in internal medicine. Dr. Gafanovich is a top-rated Manhattan internist with established expertise in travel medicine, adult disease care and prevention, and general medicine. Internists are required to have expert knowledge of many different types of medicine and are one of the most qualified types of medical practitioners.
If I plan to travel, how soon should I come in to get immunizations?
The general rule of thumb is that you will want to have all your immunizations done six weeks before travel. Certain inoculations are given as a series of shots, and you will need to start your series well in advance of your travel date in order to enjoy full protection. Dr. Gafanovich specializes in travel medicine, and will advise you on the best course of action.
Which insurance plans are accepted?
Dr. Gafanovich accepts most major health insurance plans. Please call our billing department prior to your appointment to check your eligibility and possible co-pays. We also accept major credit cards and cash.
Do I have to have my medical records to make an appointment?
Dr. Gafanovich will need your shot records in order to determine which travel immunizations or booster shots you need. She will not, however, need your medical records unless you decide to become a regular patient of hers.
